THE ACADEMY STARTED PRESEASON PREPARATION

THE ACADEMY FOXES STARTED PRESEASON PREPARATION WITH THE RIGHT FOOT

We played at Cypress vs the powerful and well coached LAUDERHILL JR. It was a good game and our coaches were able to see and evaluate several new players to be part of the team next season. We started losing since they scored very early in the first half, and they controlled the game until the last part of the that first half. Then we recovered and score two goals to finished 2-1 at the end of the half. The second half was all ours and after the adjustments made by our coaches, the team greatly improved, dominated the opponents and score three more beautiful goals. The final score of the scrimmage was The Academy Foxes 5- Lauderhill Jr 1.

WE HAVE ANSWERS ON THE CONMEBOL QUIZZ

Veteran Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar was the keeper of the week !

We received 12 responses to the questionnaire: 9 voted for Villar, 3 for Bravo and none for Romero or Hernandez.

We agree that Villar was the MVP of the great away Paraguay victory vs Argentina, with fantastic saves.

First see the huge mistakes GP Hernandez from Venezuela made

Now see how Villar stops a PK by Aguero

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ONE v ONE BATTLES WON BY THE GOALKEEPER

Soccer is a team sports..until.... the goalkeeper made mistake !!! Then it becomes a one man tragedy !!!!

For our GPs we want to reproduce a video with great exercises to practice 1v1 battles that the GPs must win when an opponent comes on a fast counter and is ready to score.

By the way can you tell me who was the GK of the week during the CONMEBOL games played in October in South America. You can pick among the following options:

Chiquito Romero         Argentina
Daniel Hernandez       Venezuela
Justo Villar                   Paraguay
Claudio Bravo              Chile

NOT ENOUGH MENTAL TOUGHNESS TO DESIRE TO WIN A MATCH

NOT ENOUGH MENTAL TOUGHNESS TO DESIRE TO WIN A MATCH
by Dr Jose C. Meeroff FIFA (ATFA) A Soccer Coach, NSCAA Premier Diploma

How many times have you witnessed the following scenario: a soccer team (instructed by the coach or just lead by the fear of the players) decides to play a defensive game aiming for a draw or to find victory by an act of chance and they lose miserably? How many times have you witnessed a team that after dominating the game, finally score a goal and immediately goes back to defend “fiercely” allowing the opponent that had very little possession of the ball until  that goal, to go on to the attack and turns the score around  winning the game in the final moments of the match? Occasionally, the defensive, negative tactic work such as to coach Pekerman in the Paraguay 0 vs Colombia 1 game played in Asuncion October 6, 2016 and then a legion of coaches will refer to such accident to justify the use of negative tactics. It is an epidemic similar to the negative campaigns that every politician run at any election after questioning the validity of such strategy.

PLAYING BAD SOCCER: “PLACING THE GAME IN THE FREEZER”

There are certainly many ways to play bad soccer but the real bad one, one that has infested contemporary soccer in the last years, is playing to protect a small difference in the score. This is the consequence of bad coaching, coaching motivated by the terror of losing (not losing the game, but losing their jobs).
